Swiss Red Cross in Lao PDR
Founded in 1866, The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is the largest and most important humanitarian organization in Switzerland. The Swiss Red Cross’s role is to support Sister National Societies in providing additional capacity to their respective governments to enhance the population’s overall health status. The SRC’s health policy for international cooperation outlines that increasing people’s access to health, improving the quality of care and assisting people to practice healthy behaviour are the main aims of the SRC and its partner engagement in seven health themes.
The Swiss Red Cross has been active in Lao PDR for many years, and particularly on health financing and systems strengthening.
