New training opportunities for Government officials in Asia: CONNECT offers fellowships for Master’s Degree on Social Health Protection for the next academic year 2023-2024

Six ILO-CONNECT fellow students from Cambodia, Nepal, Indonesia and Lao PDR are currently completing their academic year 2022-2023 with the writing of their thesis. Upon their return to their institutions, they will further contribute to the development of social health protection mechanisms in their home country.

Empowering future policy makers in the area of social health protection has been a central focus of CONNECT. With the ILO Luxembourg funded regional project “Building social protection floors: support to the extension of social health protection in Asia”,  the project will provide again new fellowships opportunities for five selected students from the Asia region for the academic year 2023-2024.

The first edition of the Master of Primary Health Care Management and Social Health Protection  was launched in August 2020 by Mahidol University in collaboration with the ILO. The 12-months master’s degree was developed by experts to support capacity building efforts for decision makers and practitioners in social health protection and strengthen the efficiency and sustainability of health protection systems across the Asia Pacific region. It was devised with a priority to create an advanced learning experience for its students. The program aims to equip students with the necessary practical and analytical skills to design, implement, evaluate, finance and adapt adequate social health protection policies and systems, and support their country to sustainably extend social health protection coverage, to ultimately reach Universal Health Coverage.

Follow-up to hear from the new students!
